Welcome to the new Feature section of Ileana’s page! Since I conceived the idea for this page, I knew immediately that my first feature would be on Jeremy Sutton. I first experienced Jeremy through a set of instructional videos on the Painter program. I loved his no-nonsense, hands-on, and fun approach to teaching. Years later, I had the honor to be one of the artists covered in a book written by him and Daryl Wise entitled "Secrets of Award Wining Digital Artists."
Jeremy is a fascinating and rare breed of artist who can impart knowledge in a meticulous and detailed manner while encouraging the students to enjoy the learning process. I mean this literally, as his classes invariably feature a swing dancing session, and he happens to be excellent at this as well.
Jeremy's artwork carries energy and boldness of color while capturing the personal subtleties of those lucky to be depicted in his portraits. Students who participate in his workshops can attest to Jeremy's dedication and everyone comes out of this experience with renewed confidence and sense of adventure. In one of his Painter Creativity books, Jeremy established the following rules:
• There is no such thing as a mistake
• There is no such thing as a dumb question
• Be bold and take risks
• Have Fun
Jeremy embodies these very qualities, which I believe would be good to adopt in everything that we do. Now—if I could only learn a few swing dancing steps from him. I hope I don’t have to wait for the instructional DVD! :0)
